MCP Remote

Adds remote HTTP MCP server support to the MCP Servers extension. Give it the URL of a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) server and it connects over the network, making that server's tools available to your agents, workflows, and the MCP Explorer.

What you can do

• Add a remote server by its URL from a short form in the sidebar.
• Connect over the network — nothing to install locally.
• Use the server's tools anywhere connected MCP tools are available.

Requirements

• Works in both the browser and the desktop app.
• Works alongside the MCP Servers extension, where connected servers are listed and managed.
• For local command-line servers instead, use MCP Local.

Getting started

Run Connect Remote MCP and enter your server's URL.
