Connect and manage your MCP servers, local or remote, with the connections saved for next time
MCP Servers
Connect the outside tools your agents and workflows use. MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers offer ready-made tools — things like file access, web search, or database queries — and this extension lets you add them, keep them connected, and manage them all from one sidebar.
What you can do
- Add a local command-line server or a remote HTTP one, and see it appear in the sidebar with its tool count and status.
- Keep several servers connected at once and manage them in one place.
- Open a server to inspect its tools and try them out (in MCP Explorer).
- Save your connections so they reconnect the next time you open your workspace.
Getting started
- Connecting servers is handled by two companion extensions: install MCP Local for local command-line servers, and MCP Remote for remote HTTP servers.
- Local command-line servers run in the desktop app only. Remote HTTP servers work in both the browser and the desktop app.
